Shoreline Amphitheater, Mountain View, CA 6/3/95, ( my last show)

)

Every Dead show has magic moments. There are times when everyone in the crowd knows they are witnessing musical zen. However, other moments are more personal. Like sitting close to the stage and watching Jerry sing a melody deep into the second set. At this show I enjoyed seeing the Gyoto Monks who came out to do some Tibetan chants. Their voices are hypnotic and mysterious, and an excellent complement to the Dead's unique style.

I remember the exact moment I heard about Jerry Garcia passing away. I  was still laying in bed  watching the morning news when the  entertainment reporter ran through the usual list of top grossing movies. As a final note he added "the legendary guitarist and leader of the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia, passed away last night at a drug and alcohol recovery facility." My wife and I looked at each other in disbelief. We were stunned. I got out of bed and logged onto AOL where I traded a single instant message with my friend Bob.

"is it true?"

Yes ;-(

Thank You Jerry!
